Here are the player models for NBA Jam 2002. I decided to add free-form deformations (lattices) to each of the major muscle groups of the body. This made it easy for the producing artist to customize each person's body from a small number of actual models. I also did this on the facial features. These would then be plugged into the game engine so the player would be able to completely create his own character. I was lead on the project and defined the production of the characters. There was a caricature drawn (by Karl Hepworth) of each player which I took into Maya. I then modeled the heads over the drawing, utilizing the lattices I had set up as much as possible. I supervised the modeling of the body types (by Joe Percival), then I added the lattices and customized each character. Jeff
